About the photographer

Keith Boas has been photographing scenic New York State for nearly 50 years–since his college days when he worked summers as a postcard photographer in the Adirondack Mountains. After earning a degree in photographic illustration from RIT, Keith joined Kodak where, for many years, he produced travelogues, calendars, and how-to books.

Now retired from Kodak, Keith freelances—focusing much of his time on the landscape and landmarks of the northeastern U.S. His photos have appeared on the covers of fishing and golf product catalogs, in regional magazines, and in ads for several communities and establishments in Upstate New York.

He is co-photographer of the books More Joy of Photography, Waterfalls of the Adirondacks & Catskills and The Guide to 35mm Photography. His latest book, Fairport & Perinton: Then & Now, shows his strong interest in preserving historic buildings along the Erie Canal.

In addition, Keith has recently published a selection of postcards featuring the canal as it passes through Fairport, Palmyra, Pittsford and Bushnell’s Basin.
